What’s Not Covered under 'Defective'

  • Boat-flipping big fish
  • Snagging and high-sticking
  • Obvious misuse or abuse
  • Broken guides (most local shops can replace these for less than shipping)
  • Wear and tear

How to File a Claim


1. First 60 Day Defective Product Warranty:

Ship the entire rod and all pieces to the address below in a disposable tube, prepaid and insured.

Include a completed Rod Warranty Form and proof of purchase (receipt or authentic dated proof from an authorized Fitzgerald dealer).

Include a $30 check for return shipping (US; $40 Canada).

The 60-day period begins on your purchase date, and the rod must arrive at our facility within 60 days. If the breakage is due to accident, misuse, or neglect, the Limited Lifetime Replacement Policy below may still apply.

Once we receive the broken rod we will inspect it to determine if the break was caused from a defect or damage to the rod. If the break is determined to be from a defect we will ship you a replacement rod. If the break is determined to have been caused by damage we will notify you and you will be able to get the rod replaced by the policy below.

THE WARRANTY FORM IS ATTACHED TO THIS PAGE, MODEL SWAPS ARE NOT ALLOWED YOU WILL RECEIVED THE SAME MODEL THAT YOU SENT IN TO BE WARRANTIED**

2. Replacement Policy Program:

Cut and send the 6" section of the rod that shows the model information (see image on page).

Place the section, a completed Rod Warranty Form, and a check for the warranty fee (see model list) plus return shipping in a padded, trackable envelope. If you prefer to be invoiced via email please note that on the completed warranty form. 

Include a $30 check for return shipping (US; $40 Canada).

-We inspect the rod and notify you within 10 business days. 

-Discontinued models will be replaced with the closest model available.

-No upgrades to other series are permitted under our policy.

This warranty is limited to replacement of the rod and does not cover direct, indirect, consequential, incidental or any other type of damages resulting from the use of this product. This warranty does not cover fire, theft, loss, intentional breakage, shipping breakage, modification or customization of the finished rod. Colors and components may vary between original and replacement.

Remember as of 01/01/2024 you must register your rod to be eligible to file a warranty claim.

We do not have a store front, so we do not allow warranty swaps to be made at our location. Each warranty claim must be shipped to us.

Returns and Exchanges:

All products purchased directly from Fitzgerald Fishing (except custom built rods) come with a 30-day return policy. Within 30 days of receipt of an order, you may return products purchased directly from Fitzgerald Fishing for a refund minus a 15% restocking fee and shipping charges. All returned items must be in like-new condition, securely packed for shipment in the original container. 

Exchanges can be made (except on custom built rods) within 30 days of receiving your rod purchased directly from Fitzgerald Rods, but the rod must be unused and in like new condition. Please package your rod in the same container it was shipped to you and include a $30 check or money order made out to Fitzgerald Rods to cover shipping and handling on the rod that we are sending back to you. You will also need to include the difference in the price if there is one between the rod that you have and the rod that you like to exchange for. Before shipping the rod to us please email us and advise us that you sending a rod back for exchanged and also advise which rod you would like it exchanged with. Please note that if the rod that you would like to exchange for is not already built then it may take up to two weeks for you to receive your new rod.

International Shipping: Consumers are responsible for paying all applicable import taxes, handling fees and duties on all orders.
